Our ‘free plan’ tour modules enable you to travel with independence, or see Japan with one of our ‘guided tours’. Alternatively, you can join a ‘fully escorted’ small group tour, and experience unique cultural events and historical sites in-depth.
Stopover Packages
Travelling via Japan? ........If so, why not stop over and experience what this fascinating country has to offer. You can sample the street life of Tokyo – the buzzing metropolis, packed with shops, sushi restaurants and even Disneyland. Or break your journey in Osaka – known as the “nation’s kitchen” for its gourmet food. Visit nearby Kyoto, home to the famous Maiko (Geisha).
JTB Australia offers a range of options, whether you have a few hours or a few days. We can arrange your stopover in a choice of hotels, with transfers directly between your arrival airport and your hotel. We can also organise tours and activities to make your stopover an enjoyable experience that you will treasure.
Half and Full Day Tours
JTB Australia offers you the largest range of half day or full day tours. There are over 50 options for exploring the major cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nagoya and the World Heritage-listed Takayama. Choose from walking tours, Sumo Wrestling matches, or Tokyo by night. Discover the Geisha, or tour the Toyota Motor Plant, marvel at magnificent Mt Fuji, or visit a sake brewery. Admission Tickets

JTB is the exclusive ticketing agent in Australia for the unique Ghibli Museum, where you can experience the world of Hayao Miyazaki, an animated film director famous for the Oscar-winning 'Spirited Away'. The museum is a fascinating interactive experience for both adults and children.
Free Plan Tours
JTB Free Plan tours are available to overseas tourists only. Thses tours do not include a guide. All accommodation and intercity transport by bullet train, train or bus are prebooked prior to your arrival in Japan and all documents will be made available upon check in at the hotel on the night prior to your tour. Free Plan tours give you the freedom to do as you please. Free Plan tours suit the more experienced and independent traveller.
Guided Tours
These are tour modules from 2 to 14 days in length, based on a combination of pre-booked accommodation, sightseeing and intercity transport by bullet train, train or bus. A local tour guide will be provided for sightseeing in the region you are visiting. You may also be joined by other like-minded travellers from different parts of the world. Your travel between cities is pre-arranged and a different local tour guide will meet you in each region or city.
Fully Escorted Tours
Every year JTB Australia offers a limited number of fully escorted small group tours to Japan. Each of these focuses on a specific area or special interest in Japan, such as the Cherry Blossom season; Ice Festivals, Behind the Scenes (off the beaten track) Nature tours, Kyoto Autumn Gardens, and more. These tours are limited to 25 participants and very popular, and often book out long before departure.
Air and Land Combination Packages
JTB Australia can put together any type of Air and Land special packages with our partner airlines, Qantas, Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, so you can book your complete Japan holiday all at one place. These are discounted airfares and can only be used in conjunction with JTB accommodation and/or tours in Japan. We can also arrange a stopover in Singapore or Malaysia.
Ski Packages
Niseko, Rusutsu and Furano, in Hokkaido are the premier ski resorts of Japan. Every northern winter, fresh powder snow is guaranteed for your skiing or snowboarding pleasure. With all resorts located within 3 hours of Sapporo’s Chitose Airport, and many dining options to choose from, your holiday experience is highly likely to be fulfilled.
