FEUKY-BEHINDSC - Behind The Scenes 2009 Tour
Exclusive arrangements have been made for participants on this special tour to gain access to kilns, workshops, studios and private homes in Japan, that are not usually open to the public. You’ll meet traditional Japanese potters and craft artists, using production methods passed down through the generations.

Accommodation is in a mixture of traditional-style inns, spa resorts and first class hotels. Touring will be by train and private luxury charter coach. Breakfasts are included daily, and dinners provided on selected nights, to highlight the diverse local flavours.

Many of the places you’ll visit on this tour would be extremely difficult to get to without a Japanese-speaking guide, and an invitation from the artist. Some studios are truly hidden away from the regular tourist route. Your internal flight in Japan from Kumamoto to Tokyo, and the Shinkansen 'Bullet Train' tickets are all included in the tour cost. Your tour leaders will be Ken Osetroff and Mayumi Gray, who will be with you throughout the journey. They will ensure you enjoy this enlightening encounter with Japanese artisans.
